Iridium spark plugs are regarded globally as the technically highest quality solution. In a special manufacturing process, an iridium alloy is welded to the center electrode with the aid of a laser. The raw material iridium is regarded as one of the hardest metals in the world. The melting point is 2450°C, which makes iridium particularly resistant to spark erosion. The use of this precious metal extends the service life of the spark plug by an average of twice that of conventional nickel spark plugs.
