Which camper propane tank for Fiat Ducato?

The Fiat Ducato is one of the most popular vehicles for anyone who loves camping. It is a vehicle that can easily be equipped with an LPG tank. But which types of LPG tank are suitable?

The LPG tank in the Fiat Ducato can be fitted either as an underfloor toroidal tank or as a cylinder tank. Various solutions with a volume of 30 to 55 liters (approx. 45 liters net filling volume) are possible. However, the exact size depends on the particular design of the vehicle and any existing retrofits, such as generators. We recommend that you take your vehicle to a specialist garage for advice and to obtain a quote. The underfloor camper propane tank in the Fiat Ducato offers a space-saving solution and is therefore very popular with Fiat Ducato camper owners.

Alternatively, a CAMPKO refillable gas bottle can be retrofitted in the gas locker, provided it is sealed and not connected to the interior. A 1-tank solution usually has a capacity of 30 liters (24 liters net) or 60 liters (48 liters net) for a 2-tank solution.

Underfloor or refillable gas bottle?

The area under the vehicle is referred to as the underfloor. The underfloor installation of a LPG tank in the Fiat Ducato camper propane tank therefore offers a space-saving solution, as the gas cylinders do not require any storage space inside the vehicle.

The disadvantage, however, is that the LPG tank is made of steel and is therefore constantly exposed to the weather. This requires regular maintenance to prevent corrosion. Despite special coatings, paint chipping can occur due to stones or similar influences, which should be repaired immediately to prevent major damage.

In comparison, refillable gas bottles mounted in the gas locker are much easier to care for as they are not exposed to external influences. However, this solution requires a little more space and can therefore restrict the storage space in the vehicle.
