In this case, the US gas barbecue is delivered with a lpg regulator for American gas cylinders. This US gas regulator with 3/8" Type 1 QCC (ACME) connection cannot be connected to German gas cylinders.

The adapter is simply screwed between the US lpg regulator and the gas cylinder with small cylinder connection G.12 (W21.8 x 1/14 LH) that is commercially available in Germany.
