The Fiat Ducato is one of the most popular vehicles among campers. It is a vehicle that can easily be fitted with a fuel tank. But what types of tank are suitable?
The gas tank of the Fiat Ducato can be mounted as an underfloor ring tank or as a cylindrical tank . Different solutions are possible with a volume of 30 to 55 litres (approx. 45 litres net filling volume). However, the exact dimensions depend on the vehicle design and existing equipment such as generators. We recommend that you take your vehicle to a specialist workshop for advice and a quotation. The Fiat Ducato underfloor gas tank offers a space-saving solution and is therefore very popular with Fiat Ducato motorhome owners.
It is also possible to install a CAMPKO gas cylinder in the gas box, as long as it is sealed and not connected inside. A 1-tank solution generally has a capacity of 30 litres (24 litres net) or 60 litres (48 litres net) for a 2-tank solution.
Floor or gas cylinder?
The area under the vehicle is called the underfloor area. The installation of an underfloor gas tank in a Fiat Ducato motorhome therefore offers a space-saving solution, as the gas cylinders do not require any space inside the vehicle.
The disadvantage is that the fuel tank is made of steel , so it is constantly exposed to the elements. It therefore needs regular maintenance to prevent corrosion. Despite the special coatings, the paint can be chipped by stones or similar influences, and this must be repaired immediately to prevent further damage.
In comparison, trunk-mounted gas cylinders are much easier to clean because they are not exposed to external agents. However, this solution requires slightly more space and may therefore limit the storage space in the vehicle.
