The filter cartridge for the Truma gas filter of the old generation with silver-coloured housing sucks up oily particles that are carried along as aerosols with the gas flow.
When the filter element is saturated (like a sponge that has soaked up), it can no longer absorb any more oil particles. The oil then runs off the filter cartridge and drips into the lower part of the filter housing. As soon as you notice a film of oil there, you must replace the filter cartridge.
