  • Increases or decreases the voltage to the required level in order to precisely charge the on-board battery using the optimum charging curve.
  • Fully compensates for line losses and voltage fluctuations from the dynamo, such as those that regularly occur in Euro 6 vehicles with intelligent dynamos.
  • Compact design, low weight thanks to high-frequency switch-mode technology and generously dimensioned power components for safe operation.
  • Significantly improved energy balance of the on-board battery without interfering with the starter circuit.
  • Connected 12 V loads are protected against overvoltage and voltage fluctuations.
  • The charging voltage is free from voltage spikes and regulated in such a way as to prevent the batteries from being overcharged.
  • Fully automatic operation: The unit remains permanently connected to the batteries and is automatically activated by the vehicle’s running dynamo. The batteries are not discharged when the engine is switched off.
  • Parallel and buffer operation: When power is being drawn simultaneously, the battery continues to be charged or is maintained at full charge. The required charging times are automatically calculated and monitored.
  • Monitoring-free charging: Multiple safeguards against overload, overheating, overvoltage, short circuits, incorrect operation and battery reverse discharge, achieved through electronic cut-off up to and including complete disconnection of the unit from the battery.
  • Built-in on-board power supply filter: Trouble-free parallel operation with other charging sources such as EBL, chargers, engine and fuel generators or solar systems connected to the same battery.
  • Charging cable compensation: Voltage losses across the charging cables are automatically compensated for.
  • Connector for battery temperature sensor included: For lead-acid batteries such as flooded, gel and AGM batteries, the charging voltage is automatically adjusted to the battery temperature. At low temperatures, this enables a better full charge, whilst at high temperatures it prevents unnecessary battery gassing.
  • LiFePO4 batteries: Battery protection at high and, in particular, low temperatures below 0 °C.
  • Charging aid for deeply discharged lead-acid batteries: Gentle pre-charging of lead-acid, gel and AGM batteries down to 8 V, followed by powerful support for the battery should any loads still be switched on.

Charging programmes

1 “Gel”: Charging programme for gel batteries, characteristic curve IU1oU2oU3
Designed for sealed, gas-tight gel or Dryfit batteries with fixed electrolyte. These generally require a higher charging voltage and longer U1 hold times to ensure short charging times, high capacity retention and to prevent long-term battery ‘starvation’.

2 “AGM”: Charging programme for AGM/fleece batteries, characteristic curve IU1oU2oU3
Designed for charging sealed, gas-tight AGM batteries using lead-fibre technology. These require a particularly high U1 level with optimised hold times for full charging, followed by a moderate U2 level for trickle charging. Suitable for plate and tubular cell technology.

4 “UNIVERSAL”: Charging programme for lead-acid, wet and AGM batteries, IU1oU2oU3 characteristic curve
Universal programme for charging and maintaining the charge of lead-acid batteries in vehicles used in a mix of mobile and stationary applications. The medium U1 level enables short charging times, a good charge factor and good acid mixing in open and sealed, low-maintenance or maintenance-free standard, traction, lighting, solar and heavy-duty batteries, as well as AGM batteries with a standard U1 level.

Designed for lithium LiFePO4 batteries with their own battery management system and specified or integrated protection circuitry.

Notes:

  • The device must only be installed, connected and operated by authorised and qualified specialist personnel.

  • Before commissioning, the battery type used, the charging characteristic curve and all relevant battery parameters must be set correctly.
  • Incorrectly selected charging parameters may cause damage to the battery, the unit or connected loads.
  • Only adequately sized, suitable and correctly fused cables, wires and connections must be used.
  • Cables must be laid short, free from tension, protected against chafing and with a suitable cross-section.
  • Damaged devices, cables, connections or fuses must not be used any further.
  • In the event of unusual heat build-up, odours, noises, smoke or error messages, the device must be taken out of service immediately.
  • Repairs must only be carried out by the manufacturer or an authorised specialist workshop.
