- Product description
The BMV-712 Smart isa high-precision battery monitor. The main function of a battery monitor is to calculate the ampere-hours consumed and the state of charge of a battery. The ampere-hours consumed are calculated by integrating the current flowing into or out of the battery.
With built-in Bluetooth, the BMV Smart is ready for the age of the Internet of Things (IoT). As Bluetooth is implemented in most other Victron Energy products, wireless communication between products will simplify system installation and improve performance.
Use a smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled device to:
- Customise settings
- Monitor all important data on a single screen
- View historical data
- Update the software when new features are available
Easy installation
All electrical connections are made via the quick connection board on the power shunt. The shunt is connected to the monitor using a standard RJ12 telephone cable. Included in the scope of delivery: RJ 12 cable (10 m) and battery cable with fuse (2 m); no other components required.
Also included are a separate front frame for a square or round appearance of the display, a locking ring for rear mounting and screws for front mounting.
Medium voltage monitoring
A bad cell or a bad battery can destroy a large, expensive battery bank. If batteries are connected in series, a timely warning can be generated by measuring the centre voltage. Further information can be found in the BMV manual, section 5.2.
Very low current consumption from the battery
Current consumption: 0.7Ah per month (1mA) @12V and 0.6Ah per month (0.8mA) @ 24V
Li-ion batteries in particular have practically no capacity left when they are discharged until the low voltage is switched off. After disconnection due to low cell voltage, the capacity reserve of a Li-ion battery is about 1Ah per 100Ah of battery capacity. The battery will be damaged if the remaining capacity reserve is removed from the battery. A residual current of e.g. 10mA can damage a 200Ah battery if the system is left in a discharged state for longer than 8 days.
Bistable alarm relay
Prevents increased current consumption in the event of an alarm.
