sonsor gas detectors and sirens for boats and yachts

sonsor alarm sirens add an audible alarm and monitoring of the connected 12-volt battery to the main unit onboard. A sonsor gas detector combines a siren and battery monitor with an additional gas alarm function for the gases specified by the manufacturer.

Audible alarm inside the cabin

The additional alarm siren makes an alarm notification audible inside the boat. It is an add-on module for the sonsor system and connects wirelessly. It adds a local signal to the app notification, for example when activity is detected in the cabin. The alarm siren with battery monitor does not detect gas; gas detection is a feature of the combined gas detector unit.

Monitor the onboard battery with a 12-volt battery monitor

The manufacturer's boats and yachts page describes battery monitoring as an additional function of the alarm siren. The battery monitor can be enabled and configured in the accessory settings. When connected directly to the monitored 12-volt power source, it measures the supply voltage. A notification can be sent if this falls below the selected threshold. The display helps identify voltage drops during extended stays at a berth or when power is used without shore power. It does not provide a precise measurement of remaining battery capacity.

Distinguish CO and LPG detection from the air quality display

According to the product description, the sonsor gas detector detects carbon monoxide (CO) and propane- and butane-based liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). This gas alarm function is separate from the main unit's built-in air quality display, whose readings are based on detected hydrocarbons and a calculated CO2 equivalent. Monitoring indoor climate conditions in the cabin serves a different purpose from separate CO and LPG detection.

Plan the main unit, power supply and installation together

The alarm siren and gas detector can only be used with sonsor mobil, home or hub. The manufacturer specifies USB-C and a direct connection to the onboard 12-volt electrical system as power options for the siren. Battery monitoring requires a direct connection to the power source being monitored. Follow the manufacturer's connection, installation and operating requirements for each module. Choose according to the functions required: an audible alarm and battery monitoring, or additional gas detection.
