LPG systems with R115 approval

The changeover from the tried and tested approval procedure with individual exhaust gas reports and TÜV approval to approval in accordance with ECE R115 is causing uncertainty among many LPG converters and end customers.

Questions such as "Which vehicles can still be converted?", "How can this be checked independently?", "Which documents do I have to provide the conversion customer with?" and "Which documents does my supplier provide me with?" usually remain unanswered.

The scope of documentation supplied by importers and wholesalers is inconsistent and differs greatly from one another. In some cases, only "very lean" documentation is supplied and in others, the retrofitter is overwhelmed by the scope. However, it is crucial to compile the documents correctly so that they do not raise any questions for the converter, the end customer or the registration office.

Scope of documentation for the ECE R115 supplied

Following consultation with the technical inspection organisations, we have prepared a brief overview to give you an idea of the scope of documentation for the ECE R115 system supplied.

1. Extract from the ECE R115 homologation from which you can see the exhaust-relevant components - control unit, gas injection nozzles, vaporiser.
2. Extract from the component list from which you can see at least the tank and multi-valve.
3. Extract from the vehicle list in which your vehicle is explicitly listed (the complete vehicle list is not necessary).
4. Overview with modification details for the registration office for proper entry of the gas system in the vehicle documents. To be issued by the dealer/importer on the basis of the ECE R115 homologation.
5. Specific installation instructions for the type vehicle of the R115 family homologation.
6. General instructions for installing the tank, multi-valve and other components.
7. Service booklet incl. operating instructions for the end customer.
