Technology and type approval: R67-01, R110 and R115
The components of BRC systems are approved under UN ECE Regulations R67-01 (LPG) and R110 (CNG); for the gas ECUs of Sequent 32 OBD and ALBA 32, BRC additionally states R10 (electromagnetic compatibility). The ECUs of Sequent 32 OBD and Plug&Drive communicate with the vehicle diagnostics via K-line and CAN, emulate the petrol injectors internally and switch over to gas sequentially.
For registration in Germany, HybridSupply offers an individual emissions confirmation (EAB) or – depending on the vehicle type – documentation under UN ECE R115 for BRC systems, requested with the shop order number; outside Germany, national approval and registration rules apply. What is a BRC LPG system?
A BRC LPG system is an autogas conversion kit from the Italian manufacturer BRC Gas Equipment (Westport Fuel Systems Italia) that allows a petrol engine to run on LPG as well; BRC also offers its systems for CNG. In the sequential Plug&Drive, Sequent 32 OBD and ALBA 32 systems, one injector per cylinder supplies the engine with gas, and the gas ECU derives the gas quantity from the signals of the petrol injection. Older BRC JUST systems, by contrast, work on the venturi principle with a stepper motor.
Is a BRC LPG system a good choice?
There is no blanket answer: what matters is the correct specification – injector size for the engine power, reducer capacity, calibration – and professional installation. What can be verified for BRC is the approval of the components under UN ECE R67-01 and R110, OBD diagnostics on Sequent 32 OBD and Plug&Drive, and the availability of spare parts: injectors, reducers and ECUs are also available for older BRC generations.
Which software and interface do installers need for BRC systems?
