sonsor brings intrusion detection, location information and sensor monitoring together in one app for boats and yachts. A sonsor boat alarm system can be expanded inside the boat with an additional siren, battery monitor, door and window contacts, key fob and water leak sensor.
For changing berths, sonsor mobil combines LTE cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi and GPS with built-in sensors. Motion inside the boat, vibration, sounds and changes in light can be detected and assessed in the app. Adjust the settings to the onboard environment, including normal movement and sounds at the berth. At a fixed location with Wi-Fi, sonsor home offers an alternative for interior and indoor climate monitoring. GPS and cellular connectivity are features of the mobil model.
The GPS function in sonsor mobil displays the boat's position in the app and complements intrusion detection. According to the manufacturer, the position is updated daily during extended periods without movement and determined again when an alarm occurs. This does not provide continuous live tracking. GPS reception and a suitable data connection are essential. Cellular functionality does not imply uninterrupted coverage at sea.
The manufacturer recommends a position as central as possible inside the boat, for example near the entrance or higher up on a wall or ceiling. Keep the front of the device unobstructed. The main unit is designed for indoor use and is not weatherproof. Power is supplied through USB-C. An existing USB power supply or a suitable 12-volt-to-USB-C adapter connects the device to the onboard electrical system. Plan the position, mounting and power connection together.
The sonsor water leak sensor triggers an alarm as soon as water touches its sensing contacts. The notification is forwarded to the main unit and app. Place the sensor where incoming water can reach it. It detects contact with water and does not provide continuous water level measurement or control a bilge pump. The water alarm adds monitoring of specific potential leak locations.
The built-in sensors display temperature, humidity and air quality in the monitored interior. Adjustable alerts can highlight changes caused by heat, cold or high humidity, including during extended stays at a berth. The air quality display uses detected hydrocarbons and a calculated CO2 equivalent; it does not provide a direct CO2 measurement. Humidity monitoring and water alarms perform different tasks: one measures indoor climate conditions, while the other detects water at its contacts.
The additional sonsor alarm siren combines an audible alarm with a battery monitor. When connected directly to the boat's 12-volt supply, battery monitoring can be enabled and configured in the accessory settings. A notification can be sent if the voltage drops below the selected threshold. The displayed voltage helps assess battery status; it does not measure the battery's actual remaining capacity.
With Key mode enabled, automatic intrusion detection depends on whether the sonsor key fob is detected nearby. Door and window contacts add monitoring of individual access points by detecting opening and closing. Notifications and sensor readings can be viewed in the app. The live view shows sensor data without video recording. The main unit, contact monitoring, water alarms and battery monitoring can therefore be combined as distinct functions for the intended onboard use.
